When you think of the world-famous East Village neighborhood in New York City (Manhattan, to be exact), what comes first to mind is its trendy-feel and eclectic restaurants. By day, the streets of the East Village are lined with city-goers hanging out at a café or boutique and vintage shopping. By night, the streets come alive and the city’s hippest come to enjoy crafty cocktails and great nightlife.
Plaza Midwood, just a few miles north of Charlotte’s Uptown, shares a lot of these characteristics with the East Village. In fact, if you’ve been to both, they do have a lot of resemblance. Plaza Midwood has some of the city's most unique eateries, funky vintage and “locally made” shops, and intimate music venues.
Most notably, what these two neighborhoods have in common is their spirit. Undoubtedly, Plaza Midwood has a spirit that is eccentric and quirky, and there’s something that stands out about Plaza out of all the great neighborhoods there are in Charlotte.
So, is it the “East Village” of the South? If you’d like to judge it for yourself, here are a few of Resident Local’s favorite spots in Plaza Midwood.
